10 Oct Colombian Jewish immigrants in Israel enjoying their holiday vouchers
The Behar family immigrated from Colombia to Israel two years ago. That would be cause for celebration on its own. But Shavei Israel and the Shufersol supermarket chain made it just a bit sweeter this year.
Shufersol has gifted NIS 50,000 (around $14,000) worth of coupons to new olim to ease their holiday purchases. The Behar family shown here was one of the deserving recipients.
The Behars – the parents and two children, a boy and a girl – are originally from the city of Cucuta, near the border with Venezuela. Now in Israel, they live in Ramle. The father is an artisan who works with leather. His dream is to open his own shop in Israel some day.
Will the Shufersol offer help make that happen? Perhaps. Every bit of savings helps when you’re setting up a new life in a new country.
If you’d like to help the Behars even more in their absorption, please visit the Support page on our website.
Shavei Israel is distributing the coupons from Shufersol to immigrants from the Bnei Menashe, Bnei Anousim, Kaifeng China, and Subbtonik Jewish communities. The program was created by Shavei Israel’s head of the Bnei Anousim and Hidden Jews of Poland departments, Tzivia Kusminsky.
