This week Nigeria is hosting a seven-day national Jewish Youth seminar that includes lectures, Hebrew and Torah classes and Shabbat activities, and Shavei Israel’s emissary, Gadi Bentley, took part in this event.
There are about 70 Jewish communities in Nigeria, founded at different times and under various circumstances, but the first and biggest Jewish community in Lagos has existed for more than 20 years. Most often, these places have at least one place of study or synagogue where they gather for daily and Shabbat services.
We will be reporting more on this special event but here are a few photos to give you a taste.
