Shavei Israel volunteer travels to Lodz to teach Hebrew
Recently Hebrew teacher & Shavei Israel volunteer Shosh Hovav traveled to the community of Lodz, Poland. Shosh and her husband were warmly welcomed by the community of Lodz, where a program of Hebrew studies for the members of the community at all levels and ages had been initiated .
The Lodz community invited our volunteers to take part in the local activities and gave them a tour to get to know the place.
They took part in a ’tish’ (an informal yet traditional party around a table with the community leader), with a festive meal and songs in the presence of Rabbi Dawid Szychowski, rabbi of the community.
We’re happy to share some photos of the wonderful Gan Matanel kindergarten, with some of the youngest community members, in the first new Jewish school to open since the I.L. Peretz school was forced to close down in 1968 due to Communist repression, soon to begin its fourth year.
